On Saturday 2nd December Washinkai held it’s 40 year anniversary dinner at the Hilton hotel, Cobham in Surrey.
Over 70 invited guests, including partners, from our clubs all over Europe were able attend. Many guests had not met each other for over 30 years.
After an enjoyable meal, Shihan Thompson gave a speech detailing how over 40 years the organisation had developed into an international group with clubs in England, America, Norway, Ireland, Spain and recently Portugal.
As soon as he had finished, Neville Smith, Vice Chairman of the BTKA gave a speech praising Shihan’s efforts over the last 40 years and presenting him with an engraved silver pen.
This was followed by Geovanny Sanchez Salazar, our Spanish instructor, giving a speech in Spanish, translated by Alistair Morton. Geovanny then presented a lovely wrist watch to Shihan, from the Spanish Washinkai students.
It was a beautiful evening with a great atmosphere and with party finishing at 1am the next morning, many guests who were staying at the hotel, staggered back to their rooms.
Prints of the group shot will be available to buy soon.
