May has been a busy month for Washinkai, with courses and competitions taking place in both the UK and in Spain.
The first course in May was held at the Canons Karate Club hosted by Sensei Annette Turpin 6th Dan. A good attendance, considering the M25 was closed and rail strikes taking place. However, the weather was superb!
Spain had fantastic success in their national competition with Sensei Geovanny 5th Dan as the coach taking a great team to Valencia. Sensei Geovanny was also a finalist in Madrid this year, and his knowledge and expertise helped bring success to the junior team participating there. This all took place during the course in Javea.
The last event was at our Lydd Club in Kent, hosted by Sensei Chris Wateridge 6th Dan. Many attendees, as it was the Bank Holiday weekend! Many senior grades and instructors were in attendance from different clubs in the South East. A lot was covered, especially for those intending to take Dan gradings in the Summer. Again, we were very lucky with the weather!
