Washinkai Karate in Lockdown

A note from Shihan Chris Thompson:

I hope everybody is keeping well during this lockdown and making sure you’re staying safe!

Everyone in our international organisation has been affected by the Corona virus, but all clubs have made efforts to keep their students active whilst the dojos remain closed.

I would like to thank the following Washinkai Instructors for starting online classes:

Elliot Morton, 3rd Dan, Spain, for all young students in the Javea clubs.

43rd Washinkai National Championships 2020

Sunday 8 March 2020, Reeds School, Cobham, Surrey

The coronavirus was a major factor in this year’s championships, having less competitors than normal.  Unfortunately, Spain Washinkai did not send students over this year and some of our officials were either injured or off due to illness.

However, it didn’t spoil the great atmosphere that was created by the students who did compete.  It turned out to be a good day with a lot of happy students receiving medals for their hard work.

Many Congratulations – 7th Dan!

Many Congratulations to the Chief Instructor WKI, Dave Martin, on achieving 7th Dan. Dave began his karate career in 1976, eventually moved to Northern Ireland, joining the BTKA in 2000. He now runs the very successful Irvinestown, Omagh and Enniskillen Clubs. Find out more about Dave here.
